My dedication to anthrozoological foci was seeded by childhood exposure to the works of Eloise Margaret Wilkin, E.B. White, Richard Adams and Helen Beatrix Potter. The ecologically symbiotic themes rooted in Watership Down were a powerful force that propagated my lifelong passionate exploration of the species that surround us.
I am an Adjunct Professor in the online Masters of Anthrozoology program at Canisius College in New York and an Instructor at Simon Fraser University in the Masters of Health Education and Active Living program. I am the author of Nurse or Nemesis (a book about Australia’s endangered Grey Nurse Shark) and Every Living Being which explores the historical bonds between nonhuman animals and human lived experiences. I am currently working on the Beautiful Creatures Project.
